    Ketchum’s Media team is looking for an Associate Media Specialist. In this role, you will work across Ketchum clients and brands.  You will build media lists, craft engaging pitches and work to land print, broadcast and .com pieces while you hone your skills and become an experienced specialist.

    About the Job

    We’re looking for strategic and creative counselors who can recommend tactics and then execute media plans.


    Responsibilities:

    • Support the overall media efforts for a number of Ketchum’s client across all practice areas.
    • Build target media lists and pitch bloggers and online journalists
    • Liaise with account teams and media team colleagues to provide project updates in a timely manner
    • Participate in creative brainstorms
    • Book and attend media events and tours
    • Work with account teams to develop editorial calendars based on news cycle and client news

    Qualifications

    • Hands-on team player who adds value, shares creative ideas, and ability to execute media projects.
    • Demonstrate understanding of client and business needs, goals, and competitive environments. Show integrity, confidentiality, and good judgment when working with clients.
    • Ability to pitch and secure media in local markets, national print, broadcast and radio outlets.
    • Interest in social media platforms and how media relations specialists can use them in their everyday work.
    • Good organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
    • Ability to develop/write pitches and client correspondence.
    • Display and encourage creativity and innovation.
    • Actively participate in brainstorms and connect with creative resources.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Any combination of education and experience providing the required skills and knowledge for successful performance would qualify. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing or a related field.
    • Two to five years of experience in public relations or at a media organization
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Cision, Muckrack.
    • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and manage priorities.
    • Ability to work in multi-faceted, fast paced environment.
