We are looking for an EVP, Strategy to join our team in New York. In this exciting new leadership role, the Head of Strategy, NA will lead the region’s core strategy function and oversee the agency’s team of dedicated brand, content, and digital thought leaders.

 

The Head of Strategy is responsible for owning Ketchum’s unique strategic product and process, which is designed to deliver excellence in insights-led consulting across earned, owned and shared media. As a part of this role, the Head of Strategy will also be expected to act as a key advisor to senior-level clients, to manage team utilization and assignments, to provide timely strategic POVs on audience/channel/marketplace trends, to support new business opportunities, and generally to advance the agency’s leadership position among communication consultancies.

About the Job

Client Management

  • Build, sell in and deliver strategic client plans, with a focus on measurable business and communication outcomes
  • Demonstrate deep professional experience in digital communications / marketing, with a clear understanding of how to apply data and technology to derive guiding insights for planning
  • Partner with the Managing Director and Finance Director to develop annual profit plans and monitor business performance continually to ensure achievement of agency financial goals
  • Liaise with Industry / Portfolio leaders and account teams to ensure deliverables are meeting or exceeding expectations
  • Partner with regional NA leaders to drive organic business growth and build staff/teams locally

Business Development 

  • Drive business growth through P&L management and operation of the business unit, leadership counseling and the professional development of staff or agency-wide leadership
  • Function as a key player in pursuing new business opportunities, representing Strategy in new business RFIs, pitches, and scopes
  • Ensure integration of additional resources, as needed, into major account business development opportunities

Talent

  • Establish, recommend and drive long term talent plans for Strategy to best position Ketchum as a leader in communication consultancies
  • Manage the growth and performance of the Strategy team through meaningful feedback, education and recognition
  • Partner with HR to recruit and develop top talent
  • Co-manage internal communication in partnership with the Leadership team
  • Establish processes and mechanisms for knowledge sharing across geographies and verticals

Leadership 

  • In partnership with senior leadership, help set the strategic direction of the business
  • Manage the business unit’s visibility within the agency, assuring product and process quality, and contributing to the development of emergent offerings
  • Espouse thought leadership and ensure knowledge and awareness of strategic products and services.
  • Oversee agency strategy POVs through internally published articles and participation in external events
