Ketchum’s Financial Communications specialty is looking for a Managing Account Supervisor to join their growing team. The financial communications specialty supports clients across our fourteen sectors that are undertaking financial events, such as mergers & acquisitions, IPOs, quarterly reporting, investor day events, spin-offs, and other transactions. The team’s exciting and high-stakes work is critical to our clients’ business and communications strategies. The managing account supervisor will be tasked with developing financial and corporate communications programs for clients across North America.


The qualified candidate will have responsibility for managing financial communications projects, counseling clients on issues affecting the investor community, developing media relationships and pitching financial and business stories, assisting with new business, and supervision of account team members. Responsible for staff utilization and development, revenue generation, income projections, expense control, and administrative functions related to executing the annual business plan and in meeting profit objectives.

About the Job

Financial communications is a specialized offering within Ketchum. Our team is called upon when new or existing clients undertake complex transactions or need support articulating a compelling message to the investor and financial community. This position will play a critical role in strategic planning, drafting messaging documents, coordinating and implementing tactics and activities; ensuring that all programs are strategically on target with clients’ business objectives; maintaining day-to-day contact with client; and reporting program results to agency management and client.

  • Act as primary client contact; continually foster client-agency relationship to build trust and become a valuable resource to clients in all areas of financial communications
  • Continually build understanding and knowledge of clients’ business and competitive environments; apply this information in preparing and presenting strategically focused programs and recommendations
  • Pitch media
  • Be flexible and facilitate teamwork within account team; coordinate team resources and create opportunities for junior staff to take on more responsibility; fully utilize agency resources to create the "best teams" for your clients
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively develop full range of written materials including press releases, byline articles, speeches, client correspondence and reports, including the skills to translate complex transactions into compelling strategic initiatives 
  • Develop and monitor program plans and budgets for profitability; report status to client and agency management on a regular basis
  • Explore and create opportunities for incremental business growth within your clients’ organizations
  • Participate in the research, writing, and presentation of new business proposals


Any combination of education and experience providing the required skills and knowledge for successful performance would qualify. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance or a related field; or an MBA
  • Six+ years of experience encompassing investor relations/financial communications experience 
  • One to two years of basic supervisory/mentoring experience a plus
  • Ability to dig deeply into a client’s business and understand its investment rationale
  • Ability to quickly become knowledgeable of Ketchum’s proprietary tools and develop clear understanding of how to apply tools and technology to client work
