About the Job

A Senior Account Executive must be able to manage the budgets and teams on sizable accounts with responsibility for profitability, incremental growth, quality of account service and employee development. S/he must be able to multitask efficiently and have excellent communication, writing, editing, social/media relations skills, able to spot trends, and apply various measurement tools on the accounts s/he manages.

 

  • Act as a primary contact to clients and play key role in managing accounts
  • Deliver high-quality written and verbal content, and present persuasively; draft, review and edit communications plans and strategy documents
  • Have a strong grasp and understanding of the industry team joined, along with understanding of client and business needs and goals
  • Stay abreast of trends and client competition
  • Demonstrate full range of media and business communications knowledge
  • Provide strategic guidance to clients, anticipate needs and issues, troubleshoot problems and bring new ideas
  • Develop programs and collaborate effectively; use metrics and analytics to build business cases and provide insight and counsel to clients
  • Drive effective implementation of projects, identify appropriate resources and delegate work appropriately
  • Manage projects, deliver highest-quality work on time and on budget, and provide timely progress reports
  • Be proficient at writing and editing materials including client press releases, bylined articles, correspondence, blog, social media content and reports
  • Work with top-tier media, including proactive pitching and relationship management
  • Demonstrate advanced understanding of emerging channels like social media, video and content partnerships in relation to media mix
  • Identify client needs, create program recommendations – working cross-functionally within the agency – and sell ideas into clients when appropriate
  • Work with media teams to spot social and digital trends and insights and share with teams in order to mobilize, develop and motivate
  • Actively participate in seeking new business opportunities, and join in the pitch process and networking
  • Be familiar with agency resources and capabilities
  • Drive accountability among team members, and work with account lead to ensure team billability
  • Contribute to management of client budgets, working closely with junior team members, finance team members and project managers
  • Communicate clear, progressive direction to team members, and provide day-to-day direction of junior-level team members, including delegation, delivery of feedback and project management
  • Support agency thought leadership efforts by contributing blogs, Instant Insight videos and more
  • Foster respect and collaboration within the team; share credit; actively involve and engage team; and build strong relationships

Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skills and knowledge for successful performance would qualify. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing, or a related field. Master’s degree in a communications field desirable
  • Three to six years of agency and/or in house public relations experience
  • Demonstrated track record in building strong client relationships and delivering programs that exceeded anticipated results
  • Proven track record in growing business
  • Direct experience in building and managing teams
  • Broad-based exposure to all skill areas, including proposal planning, writing and presentations, media relations, and consultative selling
