Ketchum Midwest is looking to add a Managing Account Supervisor to their dynamic Food & Agriculture Practice. The Managing Account Supervisor will be tasked with helping develop strategic plans and establishing proactive and reactive issues management, crisis preparedness and crisis response protocols grounded in monitoring and evaluation.


S/he must be able to manage the budgets and teams on sizable accounts with responsibility for profitability, incremental growth, quality of account service and employee development. Our ideal candidate is proactive, solution-oriented, able to multitask efficiently and has excellent communication, writing, editing and social/ traditional media relations skills.

About the Job

  • Act as primary contact to clients, continually fostering client-agency relationships to build trust and become a valuable resource to clients
  • Provide strategic guidance to clients on an ongoing basis; anticipate and address clients’ needs
  • Troubleshoot clients’ problems as they arise; seek senior management input whenever appropriate
  • Counsel clients through proactive and reactive issues management and crisis response situations
  • Develop and drive proactive plans, strategies and client recommendations
  • Produce all manner of issues management and crisis management documents, including: strategic action plans, core message documents, standby statements, question & answer documents, issues analyses, position papers, client correspondence, and reports
  • Manage a wide range of competing priorities while ensuring the team meets all its deadlines and manages projects within prescribed budgets
  • Work with account team(s) to build incremental business


  • Bachelors Degree (Public Relations, Journalism, Political Science, or a related field)
  • 7-8 years PR Agency, corporate, food, or related experience working in an issues/crisis communications environment
  • Passion for tracking and managing food-related issues
  • Background working with commodities or agriculture a plus
  • Highly detailed and solution-oriented
  • Excellent writing skills and strong presentation capabilities
  • Understanding of the ways the media cover key social, economic, political issues, and crisis situations
  • Analytical thinker (ability to analyze and translate complex issues and identify strategic insights that could be used to help clients meet their objectives)
