Ketchum’s NYC office is looking to add an Account Executive to their dynamic Corporate Practice. This is a tremendous opportunity to work on high profile accounts, where your work is making a direct impact on our client’s business. This is an exciting opportunity to help our clients build issues-management and crisis-response infrastructures that support their business operations and corporate objectives. You will be tasked with helping establish clear lines of responsibility for issues management, crisis preparedness and crisis response; specific protocols for each; and regular system of monitoring and evaluation designed to continuously refine plans and strategies. 

About the Job

  • Build understanding and knowledge of the clients’ business and their competitive environments
  • Actively participate/contribute to the development of account plans/ideas. Provide appropriate instruction to junior staff on projects
  • Demonstrate knowledge of client media monitoring process and be able to efficiently conduct/review for junior staff on a daily basis
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively develop a full range of written materials consisting of by not limited to: standby statements, question & answer documents, b-roll scripts, issues analyses, position papers, client correspondence, and reports
  • Independently implement defined preparedness projects
  • Counsel clients through basic issues management and crisis response situations
  • Primary day-to-day client contact through written and direct counsel on basic issues situations  enlisting senior counsel on tough issues when appropriate
  • Foster client-agency relationship to build trust and become a valuable resource to our clients
  • Facilitate teamwork by delegating and involving junior staff members whenever possible
  • Provide direction to junior staff and manage work-flow on a variety of assignments
  • Take on increasing responsibility for all aspects of budget management
  • Seek counsel from financial manager to be able to review financial reports, project budgets, and related financial materials
  • Develop an understanding of various research methods; coordinate internal and external resources in implementing research projects
  • Assist senior management in developing proposals and gathering information for new business opportunities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, Marketing or a related field
  • Two to four years’ experience working in an agency
  • Excellent writing skills and strong presentation capabilities
  • Analytical thinker (ability to turn around public thinking)
  • Prior experience with political campaigns, litigation communications, regulatory agency experience and/or international policy/trade experience not required but is a definite plus
  • Basic knowledge through experience using social media platforms, driving brand awareness, engagement, and traffic to a website/social media pages in relation to broader media mix
  • Ability to translate trends, technologies and metrics into conversational English
  • Be a hands-on team player adding value, sharing creative ideas, and executing digital programs
