Do you have a passion for and natural curiosity about technology?  Do you have experience in reaching IT decision makers and those who influence them?  If yes, Ketchum’s New York office is looking to add a Senior Account Executive with strong media chops to our dynamic corporate practice.


The ideal candidate will have experience driving and executing strategic media programs, working with b2b tech brands, achieving and maintaining primary interface with client contacts and the capacity to translate often complex technologies to a broader audience. S/He will know the traditional media and influencer landscape covering trends like machine learning, artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT), as well as the technologies that enables those trends and power businesses today. S/He will have the opportunity to challenge the status quo, while being at the forefront in communicating some of today’s biggest enterprise technology trends and innovations for the future.

About the Job

  • Act as primary client contact; continually foster client-agency relationship to build trust and become a valuable resource to client
  • Plan and run media relations programs; identify media contacts, build relationships and secure coverage
  • Continually build understanding and knowledge of clients’ business and competitive environments; apply this information in preparing and presenting strategically focused programs and recommendations
  • Play key role in account activities including special events, media relations, program implementation, etc.
  • Be flexible and facilitate teamwork within account team; coordinate team resources and create opportunities for junior staff to take on more responsibility; fully utilize agency resources to create the "best teams" for your clients
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively develop full range of written materials including press releases, byline articles, speeches, client correspondence and reports
  • Develop and monitor program plans and budgets for profitability; report status to client and agency management on a regular basis
  • Explore and create opportunities for incremental business growth within your clients’ organizations
  • Develop an understanding of various research methods; coordinate internal and external resources in implementing research projects
  • Participate in the research, writing, and presentation of new business proposals
  • Take advantage of internal and external networking opportunities to enhance professional development and agency/office visibility
  • Seek counsel from financial manager to understand the client/agency financial policies and procedures as they relate to client plans/budgets; follow up on receivables


  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing, or a related field. Master’s degree in a communications field desirable
  • Four+ years of public relations experience
  • Proven understanding of print, broadcast and social media
  • Strong editorial contacts
  • Interest and/or experience identifying and working with enterprise technology influencers
  • Ability to translate trends, technologies and metrics into conversational English
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experienced client counselor, relationship manager and account manager
  • Successful track record of helping to build and present concepts/programs for clients and effectively executing programs
  • Be a hands-on team player adding value, sharing creative ideas, and executing successful communications programs
