Join Ketchum’s team, based in either New York City or Chicago, as a Senior Nutrition Specialist. In this role, you’ll be working alongside Ketchum’s team of RDNs and other communications professionals on multiple high-profile, household-name brands, commodity groups and councils. And you’ll be at the multi-agency table with industry partners where you’ll be expected to hold your own. You’ll be responsible for bringing big strategic ideas and partnerships to life as well as supporting media and influencer strategies. Does this sound exciting to you? 


About the Job

  • Act as client-facing account team member, continually fostering client-agency relationship to build trust and become a valuable resource to clients
  • Provide nutrition strategic guidance to clients on an ongoing basis; anticipate and address clients’ needs
  • Lead the execution of health professional educational activities including conferences, symposiums, webinars, farm tours, material development, etc.
  • Apply knowledge of federal guidance, regulations and policies (USDA, FDA, IOM)
  • Develop and evaluate nutrition claims based on FDA guidelines and utilization of USDA database
  • Accurately translate complex science and regulatory guidelines into consumer-friendly language, social media messages and thought leadership content
  • Trendspotting and relationship-building in the media, nutrition and retail communities
  • Demonstrate proficiency in writing and editing materials including programs, proposals, press materials, byline articles, social media content, reports, etc.
  • Represent clients and/or Ketchum at key food and nutrition industry conferences and contribute to report on insights and intel
  • Troubleshoot clients problems as they arise; seek senior management input whenever appropriate
  • Motivate team members by promptly reviewing work and providing constructive feedback; encourage team to take advantage of training and development opportunities
  • Assist account teams in working effectively and in the best interest of clients
  • Strive to develop the best communication and presentation skills possible to effectively articulate ideas to clients, colleagues and others
  • Work with account teams to build incremental business
  • Participate in new business programming and presentations


Any combination of education and experience providing the required skills and knowledge for successful performance would qualify. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:


  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, with public relations agency experience preferred
  • 3-5 years of nutrition communications and/or retail nutrition experience
  • Strong science-based research skills
  • Media relations and KOL relations experience
  • Broad-based exposure and skills in proposal planning, writing and presentations and measurement
