    About the Job



    • Assist in driving an appropriate business development process for each new business opportunity
    • Support a culture of growth within the office/region
    • Collaborate with the Office Director on strategy to improve win rate, ROI and other office/region-specific goals
    • Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of Ketchum, relevant technical specialties and potential client needs
    • Ensure maximization of Ketchum’s network of resources
    • Exhibit strong communications skills to effectively articulate ideas to colleagues, prospects and others   
    • Support business development initiatives across the office


    • Coordinate the “Vetting” of leads as they come to the region for Ketchum appropriateness and conflict
    • Assist in the successful  transition of leads to appropriate practice leaders
    • Maintain data integrity of current pipeline opportunities
    • Facilitate appropriate resources (research, creative, etc.) for all prospects and pitch opportunities
    • Engage in brainstorms in support of programming as appropriate
    • Organize responses and pitches, creating new content as needed
    • Direct the project management process of pitches
    • Become a trusted coach and counselor on the overall business development process
    • Assist in rehearsal coaching/guidance as needed
    • Manage the presentation ‘experience’
    • Liaise with finance and the new account team once the business has been won to ensure rapid activation 

    Outreach and Marketing

    • Develop and implement a prospect database tracking systems to consistently gain visibility and promote the agency to relevant target audiences
    • Assists with identifying  target organizations and key prospects and ensure a consistent, organized approach to prospect outreach
    • Help ensure that the office/region maintains a consistent pipeline of qualified prospects
    • Execute local marketing events highlighting agency resources and innovation
    • Execute regional/office outreach initiatives to encourage employees to participate in prospecting and Ketchum’s culture of growth initiative
    • Active participation in DAS/Omnicom networking groups, including planning and hosting Ketchum-sponsored events to achieve holding company visibility and grow the number of leads for the office/region


    • Participate in the agency’s new business network, sharing best practices and successes with group
    • Actively share knowledge, resources, previous pitch experience, case studies, etc. with the agency’s corporate communications team and new business colleagues


    • BS/BA degree in marketing, communications, business or related field and a minimum of five (5) years of business development experience in the public relations, marketing communications or professional services fields
    • Proven ability to layout copy using designed templates in Word and PPT; ability to edit copy in InDesign highly desirable
    • High level of attention to detail and excitement about creating business development experiences
    • Able to maintain a positive, collaborative and results-oriented attitude under pressure
    • Demonstrated success in business development including knowledge of the marketing and sales process, and developing professional relationships with prospects
    • Able to quickly become knowledgeable of Ketchum’s proprietary tools and develop clear understanding how to apply tools and technology to client work
    • Proven ability to make a professional and positive impression with senior management within potential client organizations
    • Demonstrated ability to lead new business teams in the pitch process
    • Excellent verbal, written, project management and presentation skills
