Ketchum’s New York office is looking to add a Senior Account Executive to their dynamic agency. About the Job

  • Perform a wide range of duties including development of client programs, strategic planning, staff development and financial management
  • Knowledge of the spirits industry is a plus not required. However, candidate should be eager to continually build an understanding and knowledge of clients' business and competitive environments; apply this information in preparing and presenting strategically focused programs and recommendations
  • Support the clients and internal teams on programs ranging from consumer programs and activations, trade outreach and narrative development
  • Play key role in account activities including assisting and managing media events, media relations, program implementation, vendor management, etc.
  • Provide strategic guidance to clients on an ongoing basis; anticipate and address clients’ needs.
  • Troubleshoot clients problems as they arise; seek senior management input whenever appropriate
  • Assist account team(s) in working effectively and in the best interest of client(s)
  • Be flexible and facilitate teamwork within account team; coordinate team resources and create opportunities for junior staff to take on more responsibility; provide appropriate instruction to and follow-up with junior staff and inter-department teammates on projects
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively develop full range of written materials including pitches, press releases, byline articles, speeches, briefing sheets, client correspondence and reports
  • Ensure quality control on all external deliverables; attention to detail is a must
  • Verify information to ensure accuracy of media materials and contacts; maintain and create media lists
  • Self-starter, prioritize own work, meet deadlines, actively communicate progress and deliverables
  • Strive to develop the best communication and presentation skills possible to effectively articulate ideas to clients, colleagues and others
  • Manage account financials including budget allocation and control, time sheets, client billing, supplier invoicing and purchase orders
  • Actively participate and contribute to the ideation and development of account plans

Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skills and knowledge for successful performance would qualify. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or a related field.
  • 3+  years of marketing or PR experience with a specific focus on spirits, culture, integrated and influencer marketing a plus
  • Familiarity working on a large, fast-paced agency team also a plus
  • Willingness to travel and staff evening and weekend events from time-to-time
  • Team player; organized, can prioritize
  • Self-starter and decisive yet knows when to approach senior staff when needed
  • Always thinking about the bigger picture, what more can Ketchum offer
  • Experience counseling senior level clients
  • Demonstrate advanced understanding of emerging channels like social media, video, and content partnerships in relation to media mix
  • Experience working in interagency teams with multiple marketing partners
  • Ability to quickly become knowledgeable of Ketchum’s proprietary tools and develop clear understanding of how to apply tools and technology to client work
  • Successful track record of helping to build and present concepts/programs for clients and effectively executing programs
  • Ability to spot digital trends and insights and share with teams in order to mobilize develop and motivate
  • Ability to translate trends, technologies and metrics into conversational English
