    About the Job

     

    Our NY office is seeking a highly energetic, creative storyteller who is passionate about using their media relations skills to build corporate reputations and brands. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic, yet hands on media relations professional with strong business/corporate media contacts. 

     

    The VP of Corporate Media Relations will identify and propel relevant stories; a talented individual with a proven track record of media placements and a team player that can drive successful media relations, analyst relations and social media programs.  This position is responsible for working with the New York Office and the Global Media Network to provide senior media counsel, grow accounts and create incremental revenue opportunities

     

    Ideal candidate will have strong corporate, top tier business and b2b media contacts with 10 plus years’ experience working in a newsroom or public relations agency environment.  Ideal candidate will also have experience in working directly with C-suite executives on media opportunities and experience with financial communications, transactions and investor relations.

     

     

    About the job:

    • Develop and execute earned media relations strategies around business/financial news (e.g., earnings, new offerings, trends)
    • Counsel and work with a variety of clients (across many industries) to develop unique narratives to clarify their value proposition and align their corporate story with the news cycle.
    • Secure corporate feature stories in business weeklies and dailies
    • Book executives on major business networks (CNBC, Fox Business, Bloomberg TV); familiarity with talent/anchors/differences among various programs
    • Plan, book and staff executive media tours and editorial board meetings; strong contacts at NYT, WSJ, BusinessWeek, Fortune, Forbes and other mainstream business publications.
    • Develop executive visibility plans; securing industry accolades and speaking engagements 
    • Take a leadership role in new business proposal development and presentations; work with account teams to build incremental business.

    Qualifications

    The qualified candidate must have significant corporate/business public relations and media experience and a proven record of professional achievement.

     

    • 10+ years’ public relations or journalism experience, ideally in a print setting  
    • Demonstrated success in senior level media relations including a strategic understanding of emerging channels like social media, video, and content partnerships in relation to media mix
    • Must have strong media relationships within the business/corporate and financial services industry
    • Ability to be a strong client counselor, team builder and leader
    • Possess superior verbal and written communications skills
    • Familiar with analyst relations as it relates to earned media
    • Strong presentation skills, encouraging a team approach to management, being self-motivated, and dedicated to achieving client satisfaction and internal goals.
