    Ketchum's Global Research & Analytics (KGRA) team is looking for a Research Director to work out of our New York office!

    About the Job

    The overall mission of this position is to serve as a research lead for Ketchum in a region or office and to service internal and external clients within Ketchum. The Director will be responsible for leading staffing for KGRA within the global research team, raising the awareness of KGRA among account teams, providing outstanding service and strategic counsel to clients inside and outside the Agency, and raising the overall caliber of research, insights and analytics at Ketchum.

     

    • Developing and overseeing client programs and preparing research proposals, both to Ketchum Agency clients and to other outside companies who need research and measurement services.
    • Designing and coordinating primary research projects, both qualitative and quantitative, to include:
    • Questionnaire design, banner/tabulation design, ad-hoc data analysis, production of research reports, discussion guide creation, and focus group moderation.
    • Overall project management, including budget and vendor management.
    • Designing and coordinating secondary research projects, to include:
    • Developing target audience profiles, secondary research summaries, and trends reports.
    • Being a supplier of consumer and business insights – not “data dumps” – to account teams and new business teams.
    • Interpreting MRI, Roper, Yankelovich and/or other types of secondary data.
    • Management of the budgets and teams on sizable accounts with responsibility for profitability, incremental growth, quality of account service and employee development.
    • Driving business for the office/region to include driving and leading new business pitches and delivering new and incremental business wins.
    • Management of traditional media measurement projects including media analyses, both standard media audits and those using proprietary techniques. This includes both manual and web-based methodologies.
    • Management of social media and digital measurement analyses including conversation analyses, web analytics, etc.
    • Holding a visible role within the office and hosting training sessions that educate account teams on research and measurement offerings.
    • Providing advice and counsel to the senior leadership team on management, research issues, and new business opportunities in the office or region.
    • Contributing to the development of a suite of measurement projects to support agency and other departmental offerings.
    • Contributing to the growth of the PR measurement profession by being active in relevant organizations in the local/PR research community.
    • Growing and mentoring junior staff, and managing staff on all projects to achieve individual billability goals.

    Qualifications

    • Client service, teamwork, and marketing orientation.
    • The ability to work with minimal supervision and guidance.
    • The ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.
    • 8+ years of research experience; advanced degree in a relevant field desired but not necessary.
    • Strong statistical, writing, and public speaking/presentation skills.
    • Primary and secondary research experience and sample design knowledge.
    • Research supplier/vendor/budget management experience.
    • Knowledge of social media measurement and social media monitoring tools, such as Radian6, Sysomos.
    • Knowledge of/Expertise in any or all of the following: Secondary databases, such as GfK MRI, Comscore, Yankelovich, SPSS or similar statistical package capabilities.
