  • Overview

     

    Ketchum Chicago is looking for a strategic, business-savvy and highly analytical Finance Manager to manage its financial operations. This includes managing financial reporting, working capital management, vendor contract management and client contract compliance in an incredibly fast-paced, dynamic and client-focused environment. The role will serve as senior financial counselor to the office director/general manager on operational and financial matters related to the business’s overall financial strategies (both internal and external). 

    About the Job

    • Have a solid understanding of client contracts to ensure financial compliance.
    • Partner with new business team to assist in responding to RFP’s.
    • Assist with negotiating vendor agreements and managing external resources.
    • Assist with building fee proposals and fee reconciliations for clients.
    • Help lead finance meetings with Digital Strategy teams and review the status of monthly staffing to help drive staff utilization and other client finance issues.
    • Coach internal teams and customize team training on financial/operational best practices. related to pricing and financial performance.
    • Develop new ideas to streamline and improve operational processes and efficiency of financial reporting to both corporate operations and internal management.
    • Assist in month-end close process.
    • Assist with preparation of annual financial plan including capacity, income and expense, capital budget and supporting schedules.
    • Assist with updating monthly forecasts and provide detailed variance analysis for submission to local and corporate office.
    • Represent Ketchum in a professional manner and build strong relationships with business teams, adding value and providing strategic counsel.
    • Be flexible, strategic, creative and service-oriented when working with individuals at all levels of the agency.
    • Develop knowledge of current industry and business trends and understanding of financial implications using KPIs or other metrics common in the professional  services industry.

    Qualifications

     

    • Any combination of education and experience providing the required skills and knowledge for successful performance would qualify. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
    • 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in finance/accounting in the public relations or a related industry, with at least one year in a supervisory capacity.
    • Demonstrated excellent communication and relationship-building skills, commitment to client service
    • Experience managing a P&L at the local level
    • Outstanding financial acumen and expertise in using financial systems and Excel for financial modeling and data manipulation. 
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Proven ability to be strategic, flexible, creative and service-oriented when dealing with individuals throughout the organization.
    • Experience with PeopleSoft application preferred as well as knowledge of Cognos.
    • Excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills are critical.
    • Systems specification and implementation experience
    • Knowledge of Service Area metrics or KRIs
    • Experience developing financial tools used my senior management
